Black Rooster is a Peri-peri chicken chain founded in Glasgow Duke Street in 2017. Since opening its seen a great deal of success and opened multiple locations in the North of England and Scotland. I was recommended this restaurant by a close friend of mine and was eager to try it for myself. 

The Menu

The Black Rooster chain offers a wide menu which incorporated its Peri-Peri chicken into many other countries cuisine. They had Peri-peri: Burritos (Mexico), Pita Wraps (Middle East), Panini (Italy) as well as well as so many other options common to the western style of food which is primary in Glasgow. With so many options on offer its difficult to mention it all with this style of the review however the main headings on their menu are... Grilled Chicken, Burgers, Wraps, Sides and Premium sides, Deserts, Kids, salads and Vegetarian. The options on this menu also sported a more premium price point. 

The Food 

There's so much to say about the food here with much of it being controversial.  After much anticipation for my orders it finally arrived. I began by trying the mozzarella sticks which weren't too shabby, it can sometimes be difficult to deliver something like a mozzarella stick whilst keeping the cheese hot and stretchy. After an appetizer my 5 Hot Lemon & Herb Chicken Strips was ready to delve "into the belly of the beast". To be perfectly honest I felt a little let down by the chicken strips, it was ok at best, there was an decent level of spice and "zestiness" within the hot lemon and herb flavouring however on the whole the chicken was a little dry. The final disappointment however was the Double Chicken burger (Mango & lime flavour). This flavour was so sweet and sickly I was almost unable to finish it but having paid a king's ransom I persevered and it didn't get any better. 

Overall 4/10

At a price point of £21.10 I was thoroughly disappointed. With such a wide menu choice perhaps it was just the options I picked, if you think the rating is unjust leave your opinion in comments and perhaps ill review different menu options.

I had often seen many people waiting outside this particular takeaway and decided I too would join them that evening. Morello

 Morello (Woodlands Road) Welcome back, The restaurant Morellos has two locations in Glasgow, but the one we're here to talk about is located on Woodlands Road. Morellos, uses locally sourced foods and gets its food delivered daily ensuring that its fresh it. Morello also gives back to the community as they are part of the G20 youth festival providing financial donations for kitchen equipment to help feed the local community, this certainly wins them some brownie points with me.  The Menu  Morellos offers a vast expanse of options, from burgers, to pizzas, to jacket potatoes (with various toppings) and kebab/shawarma options. There were many hearty meals to choose from but I decided that I would pick their '12 oz' Gourmet Burger (with cheese added) and a Large "Tandoori" Calzone.  The Food  I was shocked at the difference between the two items on my order, The tandoori calzone was head and shoulders above the 12 oz burger.
