Wingstop
Wingstop
(West Street)
Dear readers, welcome to our first review!
The American international food chain
"Wingstop" has seen global success with restaurants open across
various countries in North America, Europe and Asia. I chose Wingstop as the
first takeaway to review because it has only recently arrived in Glasgow. Currently,
Wingstop in Glasgow only offers food deliveries (via Deliveroo) which is less
than ideal for a quick bite whilst on the go.
The Menu
Wingstop offers a small selection of dishes to choose from however, they
do provide the customer with a wide variety of customisability for their order.
When you order chicken from Wingstop they provide you with 11 different flavour
options. Furthermore, if you order either chicken wings or boneless chicken,
they will allow you to select up to two flavours, so you receive half your
order with each of your selected flavours.
The Food
With all that said onto the "meat and
potatoes" of the review. I ordered eight chicken wings, a Big Flavour
Burger and eight boneless chicken pieces in three different flavours. "The
Spicy Korean (MED)" was very sweet which wouldn't normally suit my palette;
however, it was balanced with the savoury house ranch and blue cheese sauce.
Secondly, I tried the "Brazilian Citrus Pepper Flavour". This was by
far my favourite of the three I tasted; the citrus flavour really stood out to
me which complemented nicely with a more subtle sweetness than the Spicy
Korean. The final flavour was the Garlic Parmesan. This flavour wasn't strong enough, I was looking forward to the strong umami taste that is
usually associated with parmesan cheese. Overall, the chicken was tender and
well cooked with the chicken wings being the highlight. The Big Flavour Burger
was nice although arrived colder than the rest of the order.
Overall
Rating - 7/10
Points deducted for: too much sweetness, the cold burger, mediocrity of
the Garlic Parmesan, high price point (£24.45 Not including delivery and
service charges)
